St. Bigids Day Crosses..

On Wednesday we had a very nice man call to our classroom to show us how to make St. Brigids Day Crosses. His name was Mr. O Halloran. He told us that he had gone off on his bike early in the morning to collect rushes even though it was freezing and foggy!

When he came first he spoke to Miss. O Connells class about Italy because they are doing a new project on Italy.

Then he came into us and we all sat around him and he showed us how to make the crosses. He took lots of rushes and started to make a cross and we all helped him by holding down the rushes. He tied the ends with small elastic bands and cut them nice and tidy with a scissors. Here are some photos of our great day.

Our New Classroom!!

WOW!!!
We arrived back after our Christmas holidays to a wonderful surprise- we had a new classroom! We couldn't believe it.... There was beautiful new red carpet on the floor and the walls were painted cream. We had new posters and games and jig-saws. It was lovely.
Then we planted Hyacinth plants with Muinteoir Barbara and Evita so now we have to water them every day so that they'll grow up tall! We also have a new art easel for painting on so we can't wait to use that. We are really looking forward to learning lots of new things in our new room....

Our Visit To Santa...

Hi everyone and you are all very welcome to the Junior room blogspot!!

We're so excited to be able to write about our fantastic trip to Clonmel. Yesterday morning at 10am, junior infants, Senior infants, 1st class, 2nd class and 3rd class all got on the bus at the school. Our adventure began in the White Memorial Theatre in Clonmel where we saw the pantomime "RUDOLPH". It was fantastic- it was all about Ruldolph, the red-nosed reindeer and how he saved Christams with his big, shiny red nose. The theatre was big and it had lots and lots of seats-just as well because there were alot of other schools there too!! We had to sing and clap and cheer during the show and even Muinteoir Barbara, Evita and Liz had to join in!

After the show we all got back on the bus and had our lunch and we knew that the best had yet to come! We were bursting with excitement as the bus driver began to drive the bus because we knew we were on our way to see SANTA in Dovehill.

When we arrived at Dovehill, it looked magical... Santa's Grotto was all done up with snow, lights, trains and elves. We were all brought into the grotto where we all got to watch a DVD. Then we all took it in turns to go in to see Santa.

Santa looked great and the best part was he knew we had all written our letter to him. He spoke to each one of us and asked us our names. We all reminded Santa what we wanted, because we know he has so many toys to try and remember!!! Santas elf was there to help him. Next thing our presents fell down the chimney. We all said goodbye to Santa and he told us to go to bed early on Christmas Eve!!
We all hopped back on the bus and set sail for home..
It was a great day and we were all so tired..

Barkley is our new friend from Canada

Barkley is our friend from Oak Lake School. He is the mascot of the Kindergarten class there! Piggley is our school mascot. He went to Croatia and Hong Kong with Ms. O' Connell.

Barkley's teacher Mrs. Caldwell emailed us to say... We would love Piggley to come for a visit. Maybe Barkley and Piggley could do an exchange sometime for a month!

We hope to work together soon!!

Check out some photos of our class!
